Mission Statement

The past 20 years have seen phenomenal technological advances. Who could have imagined the global networks of the World Wide Web, the ubiquitous cell phone and powerful super computers that fit into your pocket?

Some might argue that these are tech-age gadgets that we can live without. No one, however, would argue against the dynamic leaps forward in our understanding of the mechanics of the human body. Technology has given science the ability to peer right into the heart of the tiniest cell, unwrap and map our DNA, and develop treatments and cures for a host of ailments and diseases.

For many years, rheumatoid arthritis (RA) has languished unchecked by the developments in modern medicine. That is beginning to change. Our understanding of the immune system and the mechanisms surrounding RA are improving daily. RA should no longer be considered “an aging disease” and “untreatable.” New drugs, treatments and techniques are providing legitimate hope for people who suffer with this difficult disease.

Abbott Immunology is dedicated to remaining at the forefront of the fight to treat rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and hopefully someday find a cure. A few of us suffer from RA — many of us have friends or family who are impacted by this disease. That’s why we have decided to create this site to help us, and you, track and follow the developments in RA disease management. We also hope to provide you with unbiased references, information and resources you need to live better with your disease or support a loved one with RA.

Science is catching up with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This site exists to monitor the progress, support the patients and acknowledge their fight, and demonstrate respect and appreciation for patients, caregivers and the people who fight every day to treat this disease.

The world of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is changing. Watch this space.
